The Phd Pocket Disc is a small business venture combining some of my favorite things; flying discs, cooking, and fair trade. These colorful, portable discs were the result of a third grader’s biffed homework assignment that involved crocheting a round placemat. This failed attempt sat, left behind on a living room table until a family friend picked it up and flung in across the room and into the future.
These two families, the Grofts and the Larsens of Hillsborough, North Carolina, had discovered something truly unique and decided to go into business. The Larsen family had recently returned from travelling in Latin America and was moved by the extreme poverty of the region. They wanted to do their part to help and the Phd Pocket Disc provided them with just the right opportunity.
